      WHAT WE DO

      ACTION

PHI DELTA CHI is America's first professional fraternity in pharmacy. Since 1883, we have worked to advance the profession of pharmacy and its allied interests, and to foster and promote a fraternal spirit among our Brothers. We intend to continue to be first as a source of progress for the profession. These primary programs will improve our Brothers and their communities:

• Programs to recognize excellence among collegiate and alumni Brothers and Chapters.
• The Prescott Leadership Award for excellence in a young pharmacist.
• Training and education programs to improve therapeutic, leadership, and management skills of pharmacy students and pharmacists.
• Professional and service programs to help the community.
• Communication programs and publications to link all Brothers.
• Fraternal programs to foster our Brotherhood.

VALUES

PHI DELTA CHI Brothers seek enhanced professional and personal success and satisfaction. PHI DELTA CHI helps both pharmacy students and pharmacists improve personal and professional skills, inspiring confidence and character and providing insight into human nature. PHI DELTA CHI encourages Brothers to develop as leaders, as excellent pharmacists, and as well-rounded citizens. Excellent pharmacists are the most important product of PHI DELTA CHI. In our union, we are Brothers for Life.

The best health care requires pharmacists committed to providing pharmaceutical care. PHI DELTA CHI Brothers aim to improve the health of their patients through the delivery of optimal pharmaceutical care. The crowning glory of all PHI DELTA CHI Brothers is to serve. By training, educating, preparing, and connecting excellent pharmacists, PHI DELTA CHI advances the public health and the profession.

PHILANTROPHY

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Phi Delta Chi adopted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as its national philanthropy at the 60th Grand Council in 1995. PDC Collegiate Chapters and Alumni from across the country have helped raised money and awareness for St. Jude ever since.

In August 2007, the Fraternity expanded support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital using a targeted letter-writing campaign called The Prescription for Hope. Through this campaign, the Fraternity pledged to raise $200,000 over 4 years. In April 2009, Phi Delta Chi surpassed this goal within just 2 years! Upon completion of this commitment, the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s outpatient pharmacy located on the first floor of the Patient Care Center was named in gratitude of Phi Delta Chi. Most recently, the 67th Grand Council voted to continue their support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through The Prescription for Hope fundraising campaign.

Pharmacist’s Letter and their new Pharmacy Technicians University continue their commitment of a $20,000 matching donation to St. Jude on behalf of Phi Delta Chi.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital hosted the strategic planning retreat for the Executive Council and Regional Officers in Memphis, Tennessee in October of 2010. During this retreat, we enjoyed lunch with a St. Jude patient family to see firsthand how the money Phi Delta Chi raises benefits patients and their families. It was a very powerful experience to see how the support from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital extends beyond diagnosis and treatment to caring for the whole patient. The father shared that if he met with us 18 months ago, he would have been too distressed to talk. “My daughter wouldn’t have eyes if it weren’t for St. Jude,” he continued. Barton and Marcie also provided us with a tour and showed us the outpatient pharmacy located on the first floor of the Patient Care Center that was named in gratitude of Phi Delta Chi. The plaque adjacent to the pharmacy pick-up window reads, “IN GRATITUDE TO PHI DELTA CHI PHARMACY FRATERNITY FOR THEIR DEDICATION AND SUPPORT OF ST. JUDE AND ITS PHARMACY PROGRAM.” This pharmacy is located near the outpatient treatment registration area where approximately 200 patients are treated each day.
